Swissport International, the world’s leading provider of ground services to the aviation sector, has appointed Simon Messner as its new Vice President and Head of Operations.
Zurich – In this newly-created position, which he will assume on 1 July, Messner will be responsible for operational matters within Swissport’s various markets (together with the local Swissport organisations) and for the head-office functions of operational support, quality, health & safety, e-services and the Swissport Formula programme. Raising efficiencies and promoting further groupwide standardisation will be other key priorities.
Simon Messner, who is 41, will assume his new duties as Swissport International’s Vice President Operations on 1 July. He comes to Swissport from McKinsey & Company in Frankfurt, where he has been serving as an associate principal for the past nine years. With his broad international management experience and his extensive expertise in performance-enhancement programmes and in redesigning logistical processes, Messner is excellently qualified for his new responsibilities.
In addition to leading his head-office Operations team, Simon Messner will be devoting particular attention to the increasingly vital issues of operational excellence, e-services and quality assurance and control. He will report directly to Philipp Joeinig, Executive Vice President Business Development & Group Services, in his new position.
After studying in Freiburg and Munich, Simon Messner completed his doctorate in economics (earning a summa cum laude) in Barcelona. Innovative, proactive and solution-driven, Messner also possesses strong communication skills.
