Hawaii International Film Festival

Art & Life in the Days of Captain Cook and … Now March 15 and April 8, 2006 Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach Meet filmmakers and art collectors Caroline and Donald Yacoe as they share 30 years of experiences in the Pacific. Outrigger Waikiki proudly displays museum-quality works of art from
Hawaii, Tonga, Tahiti, Marquesas, New Zealand and Vanuatu. Presented in conjunction with the Honolulu Academy of Art’s „Life in the Pacific of the 1700s“, this is an extraordinary exhibition of Pacific objects collected during the voyages of Captain James Cook–the first time this entire

Kona Chocolate Festival
March 25, 2006. 6:30 pm-10:30 pm. A chocoholic’s dream come true, featuring a chocolate symposium and a festive evening gala showcasing a chocolate taste-off competition, sumptuous

Hawaii Orchids Display
April 3-September 2006, Every Third Wednesday, 9 am-10 am. Free. Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach
Meet nationally recognized speaker, orchid-grower, hybridizer and noted judge for the American Orchid Society, Patrick O’Day. Learn how to grow and repot dendrobiums, cattleya, cymbidians and other orchids. Seasonally, Outrigger Waikiki’s special hybrid orchid will be on display. Ukulele Jam

Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach A fabulously fun and free workshop led by one of Hawaii’s most notable musicians.  In the past, featured instructors have included Grammy Award winner Daniel Ho; Jake Shimabukuro, the first ukulele player from Hawaii to sign with Epic Records International; and Bryan Tolentino, who has been featured at special ukulele events on the U.S. Mainland and Japan. Yoga Weekend with Acclaimed Author Darrin Zeer May 27-28, 2006 Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach

Darrin Zeer will lead several programs and activities geared for families, couples and anyone seeking a little peace and calmness in their lives. Includes two free one-hour sessions: Everyday Calm and Family Yoga Circus. For couples, Zeer will teach a two-day Partners Yoga & Massage workshop in which participants will learn over 50 intimate stretches, achieve deep relaxation, give and receive a blissful massage, and learn lovers‘ meditation. Fee is $275 per couple for both days, or $150 per couple for one

Ukuleles in Paradise
June 3-4, 2006. Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach
A rare opportunity to learn from Grammy Award winner Daniel Ho and fellow composer and artist Herb Ohta, who lead a series of six classes on the ukulele covering such topics as technique, improvisation, kanikapila (playing music with others) and music theory. Flavors of the Reef

Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Workshop

Hawaiian Vow Renewal Ceremony

commitment of love with a beautiful vow renewal on the sands of Waikiki Beach. The cultural and non-denominational ceremony draws upon an ancient Hawaiian custom, Ho’ao Pa’a, in which a man and woman were bound in lasting union, and is led by a Hawaiian kahu (priest). Petroglyph Printmaking Workshop

Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach Enjoy photographic images and original mono-prints inspired by ki`i pohaku, Hawaiian petroglyphs. Presented by Honolulu printmaker and cultural

Enjoy educational and entertaining guest programs about Hawaii’s rich island culture. Hawaiian Artifact Display
Year-round. Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach
An outstanding collection of rare museum-quality artifacts are displayed in an extraordinary lobby exhibit that includes a century-old outrigger canoe and a 20-foot koa showcase. Many of the artifacts are from the private collections of international collectors, the Bishop Museum and the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Pieces are rotated quarterly. THE KALAKAUA EXPERIENCE
The Kalakaua Experience is Outrigger’s year-round series of educational guest programs about Hawaii’s rich cultural heritage, both contemporary and traditional.
