The German Maritim Hotel company is further expanding abroad.
Bad Salzuflen. – On the 1st of April, 2007, the company took over the Royal Peninsula Hotel & Resort and the neighbouring Sharm El Sheikh International Congress Center. They are now being operated as Maritim Royal Peninsula Hotel & Resort and Maritim Sharm El Sheikh International Congress Center. By taking over these properties the hotel company gets involved for the first time with important projects in the congress and hotel business in Egypt.
The Maritim Royal Peninsula Hotel & Resort, the 47th Maritim Hotel worldwide, consists of 17 bungalow style buildings that incorporate 337 elegant rooms and suites. Each room has a minimum size of 60 square metres. If required these can be combined to form 24 large suites. Thus the luxury hotel is able to offer suitable accommodation for government delegations and large families.
The hotel is laid out very generously. On 20,000 square metres it offers more than enough space to guarantee privacy for its guests even at full occupancy. The large pool measures 2.000 square metres. In the Thai spa and health club which also includes a hammam, saunas and hydro therapy guests can relax and regenerate. Tennis courts, volleyball, a multipurpose court, a hairdresser and a beauty salon are also available.
Maritim pays special attention to the culinary desires of its guests. The resort comprises of the buffet restaurant „Peninsula“ with a large terrace, the Italian restaurant „Il Forno“ where, among other specialities, original stone oven baked pizzas are prepared, and the Thai restaurant „Siam“ with an award winning chef leading an ambitious kitchen team. There are three bars which offer refreshments: the Windsor Lounge with an original British flair, the Panorama Bar and the Pool Bar.
The neighbouring Maritim Sharm El Sheikh International Congress Center opened at the beginning of 2006. It offers the most modern conference facilities in the area and comprises of eleven meeting rooms with sizes of 140 to 800 square metres which are partly combinable. The largest hall measures 2,200 square metres and can accommodate up to 2,000 people. A further six VIP meeting rooms are available for smaller meetings. The congress centre is equipped with the latest in conference technology including a variety of translation booths, modern filming facilities with TV quality and an elaborate lighting system. For large receptions the lobby and restaurant can be used.
As of January, 2008, three further hotels in Egypt will run as Maritim Hotels, two in Sharm El Sheikh and one in Luxor. Respective contracts were signed last March between Maritim and the Egyptian HKS Group.
