Starting on January 15th, 2009, Iberia is to add a sixth weekly return flight between Madrid and Montevideo, enabling passengers to fly between Europe and Uruguay any day of the week except Thursdays. Iberia is the only European airline with direct flights to Uruguay.
Madrid – Meanwhile, this week the Spanish airline is again offering flights between Spain and Asunción, the capital of Paraguay, thanks to a code-sharing agreement with Pluna, which will fly Iberia passengers on the Montevideo-Asunción leg. Passengers can book their luggage all the way to Madrid or Asunción, changing planes in Montevideo, but making the entire journey with a single Iberia ticket. The Montevideo-Asuncion flights are now available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and in December a Sunday flight will be added.
Iberia is market leader in passenger traffic between European and Latin America, offering more flights than any other airline. In the year to date the airline has carried more than 100,000 passengers between Madrid and Montevideo, a 5.3% increase from the previous year.
On all its intercontinental and long-haul flights Iberia offers it lavish Business Plus class to customers who want to use the company’s best services. They fly in comfortable lounge seats that unfold into flat beds, and can enjoy a full range of video, audio, and interactive games, plus a gourmet meal service designed by the renowned chef Sergi Arola, with an extensive wine list and several dessert options.
