Finnish Government Chooses airBaltic

The Latvian national airline airBaltic has won a bid for tenders organised by the Finnish government to provide passenger transportation along eight flight routes over the next three years.

Riga – airBaltic has secured a contract with the Finnish government and it will take effect on September 1, 2009. Under the contract, representatives of the Finnish government will travel with airBaltic on routes between Helsinki on one end and Tallinn, Moscow, St Petersburg, Riga, Stavanger and Vilnius on the other, as well as airBaltic flights between Tampere and Zurich and Turku and Paris. The Finnish government’s main parameters for selecting airBaltic were reliability of services, high frequency of flights, attractive prices, as well as convenient connections.

The Finnish government chose airBaltic services for employees of Finnish governmental institutions, ministries, Parliament, the armed forces and police, President’s Office, state schools and universities, hospitals, children’s care facilities and many others.

Tero Taskila, Chief Commercial Officer of airBaltic: „The fact that airBaltic was chosen for eight routes shows that the Latvian airline can provide reliable and competitive services, attractive prices, a wide network of routes, and good transit connections via the Riga airport.“

In Finland, airBaltic serves such airports as Helsinki, Tampere, Turku, Oulu and Kuopio, offering convenient connections to destinations in Western Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean region and the CIS. On October 1 of this year, airBaltic will launch flights between Turku and Tallinn – the first airBaltic flight to connect Estonia and Finland. airBaltic also offers domestic passenger flights in Finland between Kuopio and Tampere, and Oulu and Turku.
