Iberia offers now paperless “e-tickets” for travel involving flights with the Spanish airline combined with flights on All Nippon Airways and Singapore Airlines.
These two carriers join the list of airlines that allow
Iberia to issue e-tickets for interline travel. The others are Air France, Royal Jordanian, Copa Air, Japan Airlines International, Northwest Airlines, Taca International Airlines, Lacsa, Mexicana de Aviación, Continental Airlines, SN Brussels and all of Iberia’s partners in the oneworld alliance (American Airlines, British Airways, LAN, Qantas, Finnair, Cathay Pacific and Aer Lingus), which extends to additional destinations and customers the advantages of the paperless tickets.
Iberia now issues e-tickets for all its domestic flights and to 60 of its international destinations. The Spanish company’s aim is to issue all its tickets in this format, and is seeking agreements with other airlines to permit the use of e-tickets for interline travel. Today, such tickets account for more than 95% of the total sold by Iberia.
[GADS_NEWS]The “paperless” ticket is a registry in an electronic database, so it cannot be lost or stolen, and can be booked or changed via a single telephone call. The holder of an electronic ticket must merely provide the unique ticket code number and personal identification at the airport.
Today, Iberia is Spain’s leading airline and also leader on routes linking Europe with
Latin America. It posted 2005 sales of more than 5,6 billion euros, and net earnings of 396 million euros. It is also distinguished by its commitment to socially and environmentally responsible conduct. Along with its franchise partner Iberia Regional, Iberia operates some 1,000 flights each day to about 100 different destinations. Last year Iberia carried a total of 32.4 million passengers. It is a charter member of the oneworld airline alliance, along with Aer Lingus, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, LAN Chile, and Qantas.
