Fiji – A nanny service which provides holidaying parents with affordable child care eight hours a day will commence at Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji on April 1. The Meimei Nanny Service is unique to the resort and is available in a package which gives children aged 2 to 12 four consecutive days of personalized care for up to eight hours a day for $245 Fijian or AUD$135.
This equates to little more than AUD$4 an hour.
Outrigger on the Lagoon general manager Peter Hopgood said a focus of the service was to introduce children to the beauty and warmth of Fijian culture by providing one-on-one care. `Meimei is a local word meaning `to take care of’ and we believe the service will enhance the holiday experience of our young guests.’
`It also allows parents to relax and enjoy the resort’s features such as the Bebe Spa and our excellent restaurants or spend some carefree time by the pool,’ he said.
Daily Meimei activities include learning Fijian arts and crafts, being taught traditional fishing methods and basic language lessons.
Parents receive a summary of their child’s daily activities and take part in an introductory meeting with their Meimei, allowing the nanny to customise activities for each child.
The service is available 9am – 11pm and must be booked for four consecutive days. Other children’s features include purpose-built Plantation Family Bures and a highly organized Kids Club.
Outrigger on the Lagoon is located an hour’s drive from Nadi on the Coral Coast and is Fiji’s pre-eminent five star resort. In 2009 it was named Best Deluxe Accommodation at the country’s national tourism awards and voted Top 3 Family Resort in the South Pacific in Trip Advisor’s Travellers’ Choice Awards.
