Over the January – November end period, Czech Airlines (ČSA) carried 5.1 million passengers.
It represents a year on year increase of 2.3 percent; over the same period last year ČSA carried 4.8 million passengers. Scheduled flights, with more than 4.3 million passengers, accounted for the greatest share. Over the first eleven months, ČSA flew more than 36,000 flights.
„The additional increase in the number of passengers and ongoing positive trend of the main business indicators for the last quarter of this year compared to 2005 and the plan for 2006 indicates that the steps we are taking are correct. But we are just at the beginning of a difficult process of changing the unproductive business system which ČSA has been using for many years”, said Petr Řehák, Vice-president for Sales, commenting on the traffic results.
[GADS_NEWS]The most popular regular ČSA destinations in the penultimate month of the year included Paris, Amsterdam, London, Madrid and Athens.
ČSA charter flights grew by nearly ten percent and from January to November this year they carried more than 760,000 passengers. The most frequent destinations in the ČSA charter network at the end of the summer were Hurghada in Egypt, Heraklion on Crete and Antalya in Turkey. With the onset of winter, ČSA aircraft will be landing in such exotic destinations as Varadero in Cuba, the Venezuelan La Isla Margarita and La Romana and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. ČSA charter flights do not only carry clients of Czech and foreign travel agencies. More and more frequently, renowned international firms are ordering flights from ČSA.
The winter schedule, i.e., from 29 October, has increased the frequency of flights to destinations such as Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Odessa, Tallinn, Vilnius, Sophia, Sarajevo, Ljubljana, Zagreb and Bucharest.
ČSA also places great emphasis on the punctuality of its flights. For the first three quarters, ČSA came second in terms of the punctuality of flights out of the 26 European airlines in the Association of European Airlines (AEA). In August this year ČSA came first.
