Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) today announced it has implemented electronic interline ticketing capabilities with Japan Airlines (JAL), its 50th interline eTicketing partner.

HOUSTON  – FirstCall/ — As the first carrier to reach this milestone, Continental reinforces its industry leading position in interline eTicketing capabilities and shows the significant progress it has made in eliminating paper tickets for all travel on the airline, including interline (multi-carrier) tickets. Additionally, as part of its continuing paperless initiative, Continental has terminated 20 more agreements with interline partners that are either unwilling or unable to implement eTicket functionality.

„We remain committed to ensuring that as many of our customers as possible have the convenience of flying on eTickets,“ said Mark Erwin, senior vice president Asia/Pacific and corporate development. „Our interline eTicket product with JAL is exciting due to the significant number of passengers who fly on tickets involving both carriers. Additionally, we have an aggressive interline eTicket schedule in place for our remaining interline partners, allowing all of our customers to fly on eTickets as soon as possible.“
