Chomu Palace Hotel Jaipur – a Secret

The magical city of Jaipur has a charm of its own. The history of each brick inlaid in the Pink city can be traced back by generations, and unveils an enchanting legend. About thirty-three kilometres North-west of this historical wonder lies the magnificient fort of Chomugadh.

Established by Thakur Karansinghji, the fifth generation of the legendary Prithviraj Chauhan, this ancient wonder represents a unique time-portal into the age of the Maharanas.

Legend has it that the site was discovered by sage Prenidasji, who one day ventured deep into the jungles to meditate. He realised that the location of the area in the depths of the jungle and its proximity to a lake would be the ideal parameters to shelter military chiefs and armies.

The fortification was hence constructed around the area based on the ancient sciences of Vastushastra and Shilpashastra, which explains the existence of several open spaces such as chowks (open courtyards), baradaries (pavilions) and chandanies (semi-covered terraces), between 1606 and 1621.

It was Thakur Govindsinghji who later converted the structure into a palace between 1863 and 1901. The fort is of incredible historical importance as the final structure, as can be seen today, took over a hundred years to be built.

The Palace is located in the quaint little town of Chomu, and stands as a 300-year old, fortified structure. Adopted by the Dangayach group, who out of pure passion for the property, undertook the exhaustive task of non-invasive restoration, and gave the once forlorn palace a new lease of life.

The Chomu Palace hotel, Jaipur is a majestic three-storied structure, complete with the best of both worlds; an unmatchable regal ambience and every modern amenity that the contemporary traveller may need. With fifty-eight elegantly furnished suites, The Chomu palace hotel, Jaipur leaves no stone unturned when it comes to giving one the ultimate experience of royalty.

The Darbar hall and the Sheesh Mahal add another dimension to the princely experience at the palace. Where the Darbar Hall offers a unique gastronomic experience by combining the aroma of traditional Indian spices with modern cooking techniques, the Sheesh Mahal, along with its fine collection of wines and spirits, is an architectural delight of a lounge bar with its intricate frescos, glass and crystal work.

The very thought of dining beneath the splendour of the regal crystal chandeliers sends a delightful warmth through one’s spirit.

The Sansha Spa is a vibrant division of the palace that completes the regal experience. With specialists in the ancient medicinal art of Ayurveda, this becomes a favourite haunt of guests seeking relaxation and a revival of their senses.

Nestled in a corner of the palace grounds beneath the virgin, unpolluted sky of Rajasthan, among marble peacocks and fountains, is a landscaped pool that adds to the august experience.

Among other recreational facilities are table tennis and billiards, along with a well stocked library and several peaceful corners, which serve as an incentive to the literature savvy.

An Indian wedding is not only a representation of the piety of an alliance of two souls, but a celebration like none other. In keeping with the regal aura of the palace, the venue is ideal for the Royal Indian wedding. With a highly specialised team of wedding planners, the palace makes every attempt to make the wedding a truly special affair.
