Strike Commences at Four ANA Subsidiaries. Disruptions to domestic services on March 23. No international flights affected
TOKYO – The Unions of four ANA subsidiary airlines commenced 24 hour strike action today to express dissatisfaction with the management stance on their springtime demands regarding pay, and conditions relating to recruitment, training and promotion, amongst others. The unions in question are: Air Nippon Crew’s Association, composed of 407 pilots; Air Nippon Network Pilot Union, composed of 43 pilots; Air Next Crew’s Association, composed of 14 pilots and Air Central Pilots’ Union, composed of 37 pilots.
Air Nippon, Air Nippon Network, Air Next and Air Central did their utmost in negotiations to avoid the strike, however notice was received at 03:54 that it would go ahead. The management of the four airlines extend their sincere apologies to customers for the disruption and inconvenience they will face.
In total, approximately 13% or 115 of 863 flights operating under the ANA flight code will be cancelled, and approximately 5% or 40 flights will be subject to delay.
Passengers intending to take ANA domestic flights on March 23 are kindly requested check the status of their flights with the ANA Reservations Center (0120-029-222), on ANA Skyweb (www.ana.co.jp) or by contacting any ANA branch.
No international flights will be affected.
All domestic and international flights will operate as scheduled from tomorrow.
