The Grand Pattaya International Music Festival 2006 held in Pattaya City during March 17-19, 2006 received over 480,000 visitors and generated more than 420 million baht in income for the city.

Bangkok, Thailand —  A survey conducted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) during and immediately after the festival showed that there were 482,710 visitors to the festival this year, a 13.62% increase over the 2005 event. Of this total, 418,936 were Thais (-2.25%) and 63,774 foreigners (+33.91%). Income derived from the festival also increased from 419.66 million baht to 422.15 million baht (+0.59%).

This year’s festival received excellent participation from Thailand’s 3 major music camps; MTV Thailand, GMM Grammy and R.S. Promotion. They enlisted the talents of some of Thailand’s and Asia’s top artists such as Cattleya English from Thailand, Rivermaya from the Philippines and Paradise Go Go from Japan. The festival had 3 stages, each dedicated to a music camp and fans were thrilled by the world-class performances for the three days from 18.00-01.00 hrs.

The music festival is now held for the fifth consecutive year and has grown in popularity each year, particularly with foreigners. It is now a favoured arena for established and up-and-coming singers to display their talents in the hope of reaching a wider audience and increased commercial participation in future events will enable the festival to expand much further.
