A new railway line project from Bangkok to Laem Chabang seaport was approved by the Thai cabinet.
Located about 20 kms north of Pattaya, Laem Chabang is the Eastern Seaboard’s biggest and busiest seaport and is currently being expanded.
A budget of 5.23 billion baht (US$ 128 million) has been allotted for the construction of the 78-km rail line which will help take up a lot of cargo and goods presently carried by trucks and container vehicles.
This will substantially ease road traffic congestion and make it easier for tour buses and private vehicles to head for the popular beach destinations of Pattaya, Rayong and Ko Chang.
