Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach has elevated the Hawaiian spa experience to new heights…literally.
Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii – The new Waikiki Plantation Spa has opened its doors on the rooftop of this deluxe oceanfront hotel in Waikiki offering an island-style menu of massages, facials, body wraps, body polishes, pedicures, manicures and beauty services along with unobstructed vistas of the ocean and blue Hawaiian sky.
Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach has also opened a brand-new fitness center, spanning a thousand square feet and equipped with seven weight machines to work out the chest, shoulders, back, legs and arms; seven cardiovascular machines including ellipticals, treadmills and recumbent bicycles; and free weights. The fitness center is located adjacent to the new spa.
Although the Waikiki Plantation Spa held a soft and quiet opening (grand opening celebrations are being planned for later this summer), it didn’t take long for customers to find it. On the third day, every massage appointment for the day was booked.
“Many of our guests choose to stay with us because of our fabulous location directly on Waikiki Beach and the strong caliber of service and amenities we offer to our guests,” said Jim Heather, general manager of the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. “We’re elated to add a high quality spa to our array of guest options, and give it a home in a place that takes full advantage of our gorgeous environment.”
Accessible via an express elevator to the 17th floor, the bi-level Waikiki Plantation Spa is the only rooftop spa in Waikiki, and features an exquisite décor inspired by Hawaii’s plantation heritage. The interior is both elegant and home-like, graced by finely wrought tropical wood accents, refreshing natural hues, stone tiling, and gracious home-like furnishings.
Under the direction of Tony Young, one of Hawaii’s top spa experts and director of the Waikiki Plantation Spa, therapists provide a wide range of services in six treatment rooms (two designed for couples) including therapies specially formulated for sun-burnt skin, pre- and post-natal guests, teenagers and men. An especially yummy treatment is the spa’s body polish and scrub, which cleanses and exfoliates the skin using the guest’s
choice of scrub ingredients such as macadamia nuts, pineapple, sugarcane, Kona Coffee, Hawaiian salt or green and white tea.
“Often, spas have been retrofitted into existing hotel rooms or on
ground-level facilities,” said Sheryl Bell, co-owner of the Waikiki
Plantation Spa. “With our new Waikiki Plantation Spa, we had far greater leeway to create something different and something special, a place that’s very upscale, but where our guests can feel right at home in a contemporary but ‘Old Hawaii’ setting.”
Waikiki Plantation Spa features a private label line of lotions and oils
called „Island Girl,“ and the Sundari line of cleansers, essential oils and moisturizers. Inspired by Ayurvedic principles, Sundari skin care products were created by three women including supermodel Christy Turlington.
The Waikiki Plantation Spa is affiliated with Serenity Spa Hawaii, whose popular 5,000-square-foot spa is located at the nearby Outrigger Reef on the Beach. Guests may choose ala carte from the spa’s extensive menu, or go for an all-out experience with one of several spa packages that combine several treatments. Private celebrations, “girls day out” sessions or incentive packages can also be custom built. The fitness center is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, and is available for free to registered guests at the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach. The Waikiki Plantation Spa and the new fitness center are the latest additions to Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach’s innovative array of guest amenities and services, which also include an award-winning series of cultural education programs for guests, and the new Outrigger Connection service which includes free high-speed Internet access in all rooms and public areas and free long-distance domestic telephone calls to the U.S. Mainland, Canada and throughout Hawaii.
The Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach is a deluxe and gracious Hawaiian hotel located directly on the sands of world-famous Waikiki Beach in the heart of exciting Waikiki. The 525-room property features three restaurants including the famed Duke’s Canoe Club, Chuck’s Steakhouse and Hula Grill Waikiki; the popular Society of Seven cabaret show, shops, meeting rooms,
