China Airlines will inaugurate a new Taipei-Phnom Penh passenger service on November 4, using an advanced B737-800 aircraft.

September  – Taipei, Taiwan – Phnom Penh is CAL’s 66th destination worldwide, and its 13th destination in Southeast Asia. Given the robust economic growth of Indochina in recent years, China Airlines foresees excellent potential in Cambodia’s passenger and cargo markets. The new service will further extend CAL’s route network in Southeast Asia, providing greater convenience for passengers.

For the new service, flight CI 689 will depart from Taipei every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday at 07:45, and arrive in Phnom Penh at 10:20 the same day. Return flight CI 690 will depart from Phnom Penh the same day at 11:10, and arrive in Taipei at 15:35.

Phnom Penh is the capital and the largest city in Cambodia, a former French colony.  With the political situation in Cambodia becoming more stable, Phnom Penh is enjoying new success as a tourist destination. Angkor Wat, the ancient temples near Siem Reap (the name of the city where Angkor Wat is located), is a world culture heritage recognized by UNESCO, and are Cambodia’s most famous tourism attraction.

Phnom Penh is the center of politics, economy, and culture in Cambodia. Many world famous retail brands and Taiwanese textile manufacturers have established factories near the capital, and they export goods from Phnom Penh International Airport to Europe and North America. Consequently, the air cargo business generated from Phnom Penh shows excellent potential.
