Heathrow links with Jersey re-established after six year break
bmi is to launch two flights a day between London Heathrow and Jersey. The island has been without direct links to Heathrow since 2001 and bmi expects considerable demand for both point-to-point and onward connecting passengers.
The new bmi link will offer a full-service operation with products and fares to suit both economy and business class passengers.
Nigel Turner, bmi chief executive officer, said: „We are delighted to be re-establishing direct air links between Heathrow and Jersey. We have a long history and association with the island and recognise the importance in it having direct links into the world’s busiest international airport. The States of Jersey authority has been extremely positive about an airline with the reputation and history of bmi serving this vital air link.
„We anticipate considerable demand for our full-service operation and will be offering a range of products, services and fares that will appeal to business and leisure travellers alike.
„As well as point-to-point traffic, passengers will be able to take advantage of a wide range of connecting bmi services at Heathrow in addition to those of other members of Star Alliance, the world’s leading airline network. Passengers will also be able to become members of our diamond club frequent flyer scheme and qualify for a wide range of benefits.
„We have a clear strategy of bringing much needed competition to new destinations, improving our overall yields and serving routes where we see growth potential. Heathrow to Jersey provides us with an ideal opportunity.“
