Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) announced today that the Company flew 5.9 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in April 2007, a 3.3 percent increase from the 5.7 billion RPMs flown in April 2006.
DALLAS — Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 9.6 percent to 8.2 billion from the April 2006 level of 7.5 billion. The load factor for the month was 72.3 percent, compared to 76.7 percent for the same period last year.
For the four months ended April 30, 2007, Southwest flew 22.0 billion RPMs, compared to the 21.0 billion RPMs recorded for the same period of 2006, an increase of 4.8 percent. Available seat miles increased 7.8 percent to 31.9 billion from the 2006 level of 29.6 billion. The year-to-date load factor was 69.1 percent, compared to 71.1 percent for the same period last year.
