AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI), today reported record traffic for the month of April 2007.
ORLANDO, Fla.– The airline reported that revenue passenger miles (RPMs), passengers enplaned and available seat miles (ASMs) all represent new company records for the month of April.
For April, traffic grew by 18.5 percent to more than 1.4 billion RPMs based on a 21.5 percent increase in capacity. The company’s load factor for the month was 76.8 percent. The airline enplaned nearly 2 million passengers for the month, a 12.9 percent increase from April 2006.
„We are pleased to report another record-setting month for traffic on nearly 20 percent growth in capacity,“ said Kevin Healy, AirTran Airways‘ vice president of planning. „We continue to be encouraged by strong advanced bookings going into the busy summer travel season.“
In the month of April, AirTran Airways announced enhanced service from Las Vegas, Nev., with new nonstop service between McCarran International Airport and Akron/Canton Airport in Akron, Ohio; Central Illinois Regional Airport at Bloomington-Normal, Ill.; Dayton International Airport in Dayton, Ohio; Flint/Bishop International Airport in Flint, Mich.; General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wis.; Quad City International Airport in Moline, Ill.; and Greater Rochester International Airport in Rochester, N.Y. These new routes will begin this summer. In May, the airline will begin new service to St. Louis, Mo.; San Diego, Calif.; and Charleston, S.C. Service to/from Portland, Maine will begin in June.
