Air Berlin is reducing its fuel surcharge

Air Berlin, Germany’s second largest airline, is reducing its fuel surcharge. From Tuesday, 27th January 2009, Air Berlin will be charging up to 15 euros less in fuel surcharge per flight.

Berlin – On domestic German and European intercity flights the surcharge per flight will be reduced by 5 euros to 20 euros. On medium-haul tourist routes the fuel surcharge will be 25 euros instead of 35 euros with effect from 27th January. On flights to Egypt, Madeira, the Azores and the Canary Islands the fuel surcharge will be reduced from 45 euros to 35 euros per leg. On long-haul routes the surcharge will be reduced from 95 euros to 80 euros, i.e. 15 euros less. This is because the airline is passing on the lower fuel purchasing costs to its passengers. Air Berlin will make further adjustments to the fuel surcharge in line with future movements of the aviation fuel price.
