Visitors interested in South Dakota’s Native American culture have an updated resource to direct them to tribal lands and attractions.
PIERRE, S.D. – Visitors interested in South Dakota’s Native American culture have an updated resource to direct them to tribal lands and attractions.
The recently revised Great Sioux Nation travel guide is now available online at www.TravelSD.com . The guide lists tribal attractions, events, restaurants, accommodations, shops, services and features on each of the nine tribal reservations in South Dakota.
“Our market research shows us visitors, particularly international visitors, are very interested in Native American culture,” said Melissa Miller, Office of Tourism Director. “The updated guide promotes tribal tourism throughout South Dakota, and it gives visitors all of the necessary information needed to visit tribal lands.”
The South Dakota Office of Tourism, in conjunction with the South Dakota Tribal Government Relations Office, developed the updated Great Sioux Nation travel guide with input from each tribal government.
“This guide is a good example of how tribal governments and state government cooperate for the benefit of all South Dakotans,” said Roger Campbell, director of the Office of Tribal Government Relations. “During this Year of Unity, it’s especially important to recognize the positive results of working together.”
The Great Sioux Nation travel guide is also available in limited supply at each of South Dakota’s Visitor Centers.
